Bojan: Yamal is Yamal, not the new Messi. What matters most is Yamal’s calm mentality.

October 25th Barcelona Football Regional Coordinator Bojan spoke highly of Yamal in an interview, but he emphasized that compared to his "genius" and "extraordinary" skills, he valued Yamal's "calm mentality" in dealing with the popularity.

Q: One of your new roles now is to coach young players. What do you think of youth training players being promoted to the first team?

Bojan: Players must cherish the meaning of playing for the Barcelona youth team, Barcelona B team or the first team. We were a bit lost, with 15- and 16-year-olds training with the first team. When a 17, 18 or 19-year-old player comes into the first team for a tour, and when the coach decides who goes and who doesn't, the message is that those players who don't travel with the team are not eliminated. It gets harder and harder to break into the first team, but being able to go on a tour or train in the weeks leading up to it is already a huge reward in itself.

Q: What requirements does Flick have for these young players?

Bojan: What Flick wants is that when they return to Barcelona Athletic, they can continue to perform the same or even better and continue to go all out so that they can return to the first team or help the B team. Some players are not traveling with the team because there are already two or three players in their position, while other positions may have less competition, but everyone must value where they are.

Q: How do you evaluate Yamal’s outbreak?

Bojan: He is a genius, an extraordinary player, his progress, the way he plays, his ability to create opportunities... Yes, but what I value most about Yamal is the way he responds to this situation. He is a calm kid who demands very high things from himself in every training. He is eager to win. He is an all-round professional player. For me personally, it's great because what he's going through isn't easy and the way he's handling it is admirable.

Q: How do you think the outside world compares him with Messi or Neymar?

Bojan: The so-called "new Messi" or "new Neymar" is part of the football world. We like to say this so that we have a reference, but Yamal is Yamal. Whether it's the way he plays or the mentality, he is unparalleled.

Q: So how should the club train him?

Bo Yang: What we have to do is to accompany him. As a club, as a fan, and as a media, we must protect him. He's an 18-year-old kid with a long way to go, he's started off really fast and is already one of the best players in the world. He has a great mentality, is an exemplary professional and an incredible player. The only thing we have to focus on is putting him in a protective enclosure that doesn't allow anything to get in.

Q: What do you think of Rashford's adaptation process in Barcelona?

Bojan: We have just experienced a season in which we won almost everything and dominated every stage of the game. It's a new season and it's very demanding because this is Barca and after losing two games everything seems to be going badly.

Q: Do you think he can succeed?

Bojan: Football, especially here, is an instant judgment. Rashford is a fantastic player who comes from a completely different footballing, personal and professional environment and has been there for many years. He is a player who comes with a very good mentality and great ability. We must allow him to go through a process, which is a process of patience and integration, and the team also needs to evolve and grow accordingly. Those months will come when we will see how each player performs, especially Rashford, who needs time. So far, he's been great.
