Tonali secretly renewed his contract with Newcastle until 2030 during his suspension and is not currently considering returning to Serie A

Hupu reported on October 22 that the famous Daily Mail reporter Craig Hope and TheAthleticUK updated the details of Tonali’s contract.

Sandro Tonali secretly renewed his contract during the gambling ban, which means that he will actually stay at Newcastle United until 2030.

The Daily Mail and many other media have learned that the midfielder's contract will expire in 2029, and the club has the option to extend it for 12 months.

Previous reports publicly stated that Tonali's contract will expire in 2028, and for the new sports director Ross Wilson, renewing the contract is a top priority.

However, thanks to the efforts of former sporting director Dan Ashworth, Newcastle United renewed the Italian player's contract, a move described as a reflection of trust and confidence on both sides.

It turns out that this move by the club is very wise. Tonali has returned from suspension and has grown into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. His assumed contract situation leaves Newcastle vulnerable to pursuit from other teams - the 25-year-old has no shortage of suitors - but reality gives them some security.

This does not mean that there will not be discussions about contract extension, and it is also recognized that Tonali's performance deserves to be rewarded accordingly, provided that he is willing to renew his contract.

Wilson should be aware that former sporting director Paul Mitchell refused to give Alexander Isak the new contract he was looking for, leading to the striker's move to Liverpool this summer.

Tonali has shown no desire to follow suit, reportedly admitting that he has made progress under Eddie Howe's guidance. At this stage of his career, a return to Italy will not be considered.

But what he and other top stars want to see is the acceleration of the Newcastle United project. To that end, the arrival of Wilson and new chief executive David Hopkinson should help reassure players and improve the club's off-field activities.
