Arsenal s former player returns to the Premier League? Premier League promoted team is looking to buy Zachar for 8.6 million pounds, Bayern is open-minded

Swiss midfielder Granit Zachar, who has played for Arsenal for seven years, may return to the Premier League in an unexpected way - promoted Sunderland has offered him a three-year contract and negotiated with Leverkusen, while Saudi side Niom SC is also competing for the 32-year-old midfielder.

Sunderland returned to the Premier League through the Champions League play-off in May this year. In order to relegate and gain a foothold, they frequently made moves in the summer window: they have signed players such as Habib Diyala and Simon Adinggra, and bought out Enzo Lefe for 20 million pounds. Now they are targeting Zachar, hoping to bring in the Bundesliga champion midfielder for 10 million euros (about 8.6 million pounds).

According to Belgian Sky Sports, Sunderland owner Kirill Louis Dreyfus has pushed the club to start direct negotiations with Leverkusen and provided Zachar with a three-year contract. For the newly promoted team, signing Zachar is a "major signing" - he has rich Premier League experience (297 appearances for Arsenal and two FA Cups), and can inject stability into the young Sunderland lineup.

Zhaka left Arsenal to join Leverkusen in 2023, helping the team win the first Bundesliga championship in his first season, and the contract is still three years away. But recently he expressed his willingness to transfer, Saudi new player Neom SC has clearly expressed his interest, and Sunderland's appearance has put him in a choice:

· Premier League familiarity: Zachar played for Arsenal for seven years, is familiar with the rhythm of English football, and Sunderland's relegation goal is matched with his role of "passing and helping";

· Saudi Arabia's attraction: the temptation of high salary (annual salary is expected to be far higher than that of the Premier League), but the league's competitiveness is low, which may affect his chances of being selected for the Swiss national team.

Leverkusen is open to Zha's transfer: Although the quotation of 10 million euros is not a sky-high price, it is reasonable considering the player's age of 32 and the remaining contract. For Sunderland coach Regis Le Bris, Zachar's leadership and midfield all-roundness (can both defend and interception and organize offense) are key points to relegation - his performance of averaging 2.3 steals and 1.8 key passes at Leverkusen last season are exactly the traits that Sunderland needs.

If the deal is reached, Zachar will become another symbol of Sunderland's "summer window of ambition". Whether the newly promoted team can gain a foothold in the Premier League, the former Arsenal captain's performance may play a decisive role.
