June 3rd News British Chancellor Rachel Reeves and Foreign Minister David Rammy issued a joint statement explaining the issue of Abraham's freeze of £2.3 billion in sales of Chelsea.
Statement: "After the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the British government is determined to ensure that the proceeds from the sale of Chelsea Football Club are used for the humanitarian cause of Ukraine. We are deeply disappointed that we have not reached an agreement with Mr. Abramovich to date."
"Although the door to negotiations will remain open, we are fully prepared to advance the matter through legal means when necessary to ensure that the Ukrainian people, who have suffered from the war, can benefit from the funds as soon as possible. "
According to previous media reports, Abramovich hopes that the money can fund all victims of war, including Russian soldiers, and also hope to use it for other charities outside of Ukraine. But the British government insists that the £2.5 billion can only be used for humanitarian causes in Ukraine.
