Durant: Hope to win multiple championships for the Rockets and end up in Houston in the future

During this offseason, Durant joined the Houston Rockets. In an interview a few days ago, Durant reviewed his poor team situation in the late period of the Suns and also looked forward to his future career in Houston.
"In Phoenix, everything has to work perfectly," Durant said. "I feel like when we play well, we can compete with any team in the league. But great teams, they can make a few mistakes and their talent from top to bottom can cover it up a little bit. "
"We don't have that room for error. It's a little frustrating. It's not a bad situation to be in. I feel like With the talent we have, we have a chance every night, but I wish we had a little more room for error. If you turn it over here, give up a rebound there — we just can't allow that in Phoenix, so it's hard to deal with in Houston, where the talent pool is deep and diverse. Durant has watched them grow over the past two seasons. Not in a "can't wait to join" kind of way. "I see them as potential playoff opponents," Durant said. But he sees skill in the young Rockets players. Execution. That relentless drive. "Things a championship team would do," he said. Now that he's here, he's eager to do whatever it takes to make them a championship team. "I'm looking forward to playing as freely as possible," he said. "And have some fun. "
Durant said that he hopes he can do this job for a while. If Phoenix was where Durant once wanted to retire, it's now Houston. He no longer looks for his next stop. He hopes this is his last stop. "I'm a veteran, 37 years old. Not many people in the league are willing to make a change like this, to change the team and add me into the equation." Durant said.
Durant is careful not to set a countdown to his career. Mainly because he himself couldn't see the end. He has fully recovered from the ruptured Achilles tendon that caused him to miss the 2019-20 season. He played 75 games for the Suns two seasons ago. He averaged 36.5 minutes per game last season, when various injuries limited him to just 62 games. His 43% three-point shooting percentage was the best of his entire season. He spends three or four hours in the gym in the morning and does recovery and video studies in the afternoon. "As I've gotten older, I've cut back on a lot of things," Durant said.
"I've always wanted to maintain that elite level, but when you're in your 40s, I mean you might as well commit to playing until you can't," Durant said. "You might as well maximize that time. I'm getting older, but I feel like I still have a lot to look forward to. I feel like I've done a lot. I'm content, but I want more, as weird as that sounds. "
"I hope to be here as long as possible and play out the last few years of my career," Durant said. "That's the intent. I know, I said it in Phoenix, but that's the intent. I'd love to do it. I mean, I'm 37 years old and going into my 19th year in the league. I want to be stable in a place with a team, a group of people that are going to be in the league. Guys who have been together for a while and built together. So in the ideal world, we're going to win a few championships and I want to put my roots down here and be part of the fabric of this city.
