Shams trades Durant on the eve of the draft! There are three reasons for the Suns big trade! Dark horses emerge

Unlike Antetokounmpo, Durant's situation does not have much ambiguity, ESPN's Shams Charania reported today that the Suns and Durant are screening trade quotes.

Charania listed five teams interested in Durant — the Houston Rockets, the San Antonio Spurs, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Miami Heat and the New York Knicks — and added that several other clubs have contacted the 36-year-old Durant.

For Phoenix, the deal is very complicated, for three reasons, that requires a win-win deal, given that both parties are working together to reach a potential deal, Durant must land where he is committed to going.

The team will likely need to be willing to consider offering Durant a contract extension of more than $60 million a year to cover its 38- and 39-year-old seasons. The Suns need to get enough returns in the trade to satisfy owner Matt Ishbiya and his management.

Although Durant has performed well in his career, it is not easy to combine these three things into a protocol that works for everyone.

The most important thing now is to keep Durant attentive.

Although it remains to be seen whether a true agreement with Durant is needed in the final deal. The Suns need a favorable deal, not to satisfy Durant. It would be great if both can be achieved.

In addition to the Warriors, the team that seriously considered trading Durant four months ago was the Minnesota Timberwolves. The deal was too complicated at the time and it was impossible to happen. But with some Wolves likely opt out of their contracts (i.e. Julius Randall and Naz Reed), and Rudy Gobert’s slight salary cut as part of the new contract, Minnesota may have more flexibility to execute such a deal.

The biggest dark horse team: Clippers

Sources said that another team that needs to be closely watched is the Clippers, and they have a contract to add Kawhi Leonard and James Harden's roster again, provided that Harden either chooses to renew his contract or signs a new contract with the Clippers during the offseason.

Several league sources said they doubt whether Durant's trading price can reach the level that Phoenix would be satisfied with.

The superstar is likely to end on June 25th draft night or before. With fewer free agents and the team lacks cap space, one source said this year’s draft is likely to be busier than usual, which could be the peak of this summer’s event.
