Western media: Alonso asks Real Madrid to introduce center

New Real Madrid coach Xavi Alonso reportedly hopes to avoid repeating the mistakes of his ex Cheroti last season.

Alonso hopes to introduce a traditional center like Joselu, who previously played for Real Madrid. According to Spanish media Le Nation, the Spanish coach is actively promoting the signing of a real "No. 9" player - both able to play the ball as a fulcrum and attack in series, just like Joseru did back then. He believes that Real Madrid currently needs such a striker very much.

Alonso always liked to use tall and strong centers who could support frontcourt attacks such as Victor Bonifas and Patrick Hick during his coaching position at Leverkusen. He also knows that it is not easy to find players with these qualities in the current transfer market, especially when Real Madrid wants to control their budget.

Nevertheless, Alonso firmly believes that a real center can bring a qualitative leap to the team. Ancelotti coached Real Madrid's offensive performance last season was disappointing, one of the main reasons was that they let Joseru go last summer, resulting in a lack of a stable offensive fulcrum.

Having a center who is good at making walls and supporting will help unlock the potential of Mbappe and Vinicius, two players who are more suitable for wings than to occupy the middle position for a long time.

In addition, Alonso also hopes that Real Madrid can strengthen their midfield position and plans to introduce one or two players who meet his tactical philosophy. The ideal plan is to sign a young midfielder with potential and a veteran who has experienced as a rotation addition.

As of now, Real Madrid has effectively upgraded on the defense, including signing Trent Alexander Arnold and Dean Heisen, and will soon welcome new left-back Alvaro Carreras. However, Alonso still looks forward to the club continuing to sign in the summer window and signing at least three more players, from the midfield and forward line.
