Tottenham CEO: The relationship between the Lewis family and the club is long-term and will continue to the next generation

Hupu September 9th News Tottenham CEO Winnie Venkatsham was interviewed by the club and responded to many major events that have happened to the club recently.

Then let's talk about the Lewis family. Who are currently involved in club affairs?

At present, the next generation of the family is very concerned about club affairs. Let me introduce you to several core characters: the first one is Vivian Lewis, who often goes to watch Tottenham Hotspur games on site and often participates in pre-season tour with the team. This summer we went to the entire tour of Hong Kong and South Korea, and she followed her all the way.

Next, in various activities in the club, everyone will see more of her younger brother Charlie and her son-in-law Nick. What connects them is their love for Tottenham and their ambition for the club's future development.

Then let's talk about Peter Charlington and his responsibilities.

OK. Peter is not a new member of the board of directors, and he joined the board in March this year. He is a very good person, kind to others and has rich experience. We have a good relationship and communicate frequently.

One thing to be said is that his character is different from Daniel's previous role. Daniel previously served as executive chairman, which means he works full-time and participates in the daily operations of the club every day; Peter's role is non-executive chairman, which means he will not participate in the club's work full-time and will not be responsible for daily operations.

The core of his working model is also "authorization" - he will empower our front-line team to carry out work, but of course, he will lead the board and play a crucial role in the club's future development.

What about you personally? What are your current job responsibilities?

I have to say that the past three months have been really busy. There is basically no rest time on weekends, and I often have to be too busy to sleep for several hours at night. Although it was a busy start, everyone inside and outside the club was very enthusiastic and friendly to me, so I quickly adapted to the new environment.

I enjoy this job and am looking forward to the challenges ahead. But one thing must be clear: this is by no means my own business, and it is even more impossible to rely on me alone. Any achievements made by the club are the result of the team's efforts, and I firmly believe in this.

As CEO, my name may appear in the media often and sit here for interviews like I do now. But the club has 800 employees and we need everyone to work together to push the club forward. This is definitely not the credit of one person or a small group of people.

Yes, the football circle changes amazingly fast. There will be rumors about the club being acquired soon. Can you tell us about the club's position on this and its current response to these rumors?

Okay, as you said, I also noticed that the relevant news spread very quickly, there have been a lot of news reports, and there are also a lot of speculation about the acquisition in the media.

Regarding this, I can make a clear statement: the Lewis family's attitude is very clear. They believe that their relationship with Tottenham Hotspur is long-term, and that this connection will continue to the next generation of the family. We issued a statement late last night and I hope that statement has been made very clear: Tottenham Hotspur club is not for sale.

fans will naturally care what this decision means for the investment of the men's and women's teams? Will this affect our ability to invest resources for the team?

certainly won't. However, what I need to make clear is that my next answer will not lead to various speculative reports about "transfer funds". That's it, I can say with certainty that in order to achieve the goal of "making the team win on the field", both men's and women's teams have received strong support from the Lewis family. They know it requires resources to be invested, and they have made it clear that they will support us.

But at the same time, I also want to say that like the other 20 teams in the Premier League, we must also abide by the rules of financial fair play. This means that we need to continuously increase our income, not only cultivate youth training players, but also cultivate the young players we sign; we must sell players at the right time, and at the same time, when introducing new players, we must make wise decisions, whether from a competitive or financial perspective.

Because if you don't do this, due to financial regulations, you may be in a dilemma: you have money in your hands, but the rules don't allow you to spend it. So to sum up, yes, our ambitions are indeed supported by financial support, but like all other clubs in the Premier League, we must work on the premise of abiding by the rules of financial fair play.

Then can you talk to us about the plans for the next period of time? What will be done next?

is like this, as I said at the beginning, in many ways, the operation of the club will be "as usual". I mentioned when I first joined that I want to focus on three things:

The first thing is to do to support our excellent front-line technical team - whether it is the men's or women's team, and to create the best conditions for them to succeed on the field. This will remain our focus.

The second thing is to pay attention to the club's employees. Make sure we do everything we can to empower them to reach their maximum potential, push the club forward, and build a great team and culture to achieve our goals.

The third thing, maintain a good relationship with the fans: make sure they always support us, make sure they understand the direction of our efforts, communicate better with the fans, and ultimately make them proud of the efforts of their club and the achievements the club will achieve in the future.
