TA: Villa is seeking to sell home naming rights to increase revenue, but needs to balance emotions and business

July 16th According to Theathletic, Villa is seeking to sell the stadium naming rights to increase revenue, but the balance between emotion and business still needs to be considered.

Many European football clubs have earned considerable income by selling stadium naming rights, such as Arsenal's Emirates Stadium, Manchester City's Etihad Stadium and Barcelona's Spotify Camp Nou Stadium. In early 2024, Villa did some work on this, but ultimately failed to find a suitable partner.

The stadium naming rights will undoubtedly bring the greatest commercial impact, far exceeding the additional income brought by the rise in ticket prices. A similar example is Everton, whose law firm Hill Dickinson from Liverpool became the naming rights partner for its new stadium, which is said to be "probably one of the largest stadium naming deals in Europe" and may be worth up to £10 million a year.

Vera Park has been home of Villa since 1897, initially known as Aston Lower Grounds, but fans began to call it "Vera Park" in the early 20th century. The stadium belongs to its supporters, and at the end of the Victorian era, Villa was one of England’s most successful teams, with a home court that matched its status.
