Manchester United suffered injury before the second leg of the Europa League semi-finals: Team defender is injured again

Before the second leg of the UEFA Europa League semi-final against Athletic Bilbao, Manchester United faced new injuries again. Dutch centre-back Matisse Dericht was forced to leave early in the game when the team lost 3-4 to Brentford on Sunday night.

Dricht started in this game, but after only 35 minutes of playing, he stepped off the line due to injury. The injury occurred in a collision with Brian Mbemo, which caused the home team to head the second goal with Kevin Shad. After the team doctor evaluated on the court, De Rigt was unable to continue the game and central defender Harry Maguire came on as a substitute. It is worth mentioning that this is one of eight adjustments made by head coach Ruben Amorin's starting lineup against Brentford. Due to these adjustments, the Red Devils sent the club to the youngest starting lineup in Premier League history, with an average age of 22 years and 270 days.

Drigt was missing for a month due to a foot injury and did not return until the second half of the Europa League semi-finals against Athletic Bilbao. He was injured in the April 1 game against Nottingham Forest, and despite problems in the first half, he played the game and then missed the entire April game. He only resumed his team-wide practice earlier this week, after missing six games.

After returning in the second half of the first leg of the Europa League, Drigt briefly expressed his return on social media, writing on Instagram: "It feels great to be back on a night like this. Thanks for your support."

However, given that his injury in a 3-4 loss to Brentford on Sunday night looks quite serious, it is very likely that Derigt will continue to miss the second leg against Athletic Bilbao in the middle of next week.
