Klopp: Nagelsmann should give up on winning World Cup

Hupu, October 20th Jurgen Klopp advised the German national team not to set too ambitious goals for the 2026 World Cup.

Klopp told Kicker magazine that Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann "has a very, very good team, especially with all the injured players returning. Still, we should give up the idea that 'as long as we play, we have to win.'" Nagelsmann has repeatedly announced that his goal is to win the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

For Klopp, who has coached Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool for a long time, this obsession with winning the final is incomprehensible. "I don't know and don't understand why it happened and why if we were eliminated in the semi-finals or quarter-finals we would have to rethink everything," said the current Red Bull football director. "Other countries, even if they are better, whether it is France or Spain, cannot guarantee this. Or England, with their strength in recent years, they could win more."

Klopp said: "My ideal full-back is a goal scorer. The right winger who doesn’t have enough balls. The ideal No. 8 in my mind is a No. 10 who really works hard. The ideal No. 6 in my mind is a No. 8 who has a big picture and loves to tackle. "What's more important is to let more talented players enter German professional football.
