ESPN: Whether Chelsea qualifies for the Champions League next season, Maresca will be worry-free

May 15th source revealed to ESPN that Maresca will continue to serve as the team's head coach regardless of whether Chelsea can qualify for the Champions League next season.

Currently, the West London team is struggling to secure a top five spot in the Premier League to ensure they can compete in top European club events. In addition, they have the opportunity to win a trophy in the UEFA League final against Real Betis on May 28. Sources said that although entering the Champions League is obviously more ideal, Maresca will not face pressure if the team fails to achieve this goal. Maresca signed a five-year contract last summer. Given the contract term and the team's younger roster, Chelsea is determined to continue to stick to it and develop further on this basis, and they believe that this season has shown signs of positive progress.

At a press conference on Thursday, Maresca insisted that his future was not discussed internally: "Honestly, we have not discussed this issue, we have not discussed whether we can enter the Champions League." This attitude reflects the confidence Maresca has gained from Chelsea's top leaders. The club will do a season review as usual, but they are happy with the signs of improvement.

Maresca is expected to be evaluated after the second season, and he also mentioned this on Thursday: "From the first day, I said that the goal the club gave me was to return to the Champions League in two years, but when we came to March and were in the top four or top five all season, entering the Champions League was naturally our goal. So the reason for the goal changes is that we were in that position all season. I think we had a good season. If we could get into the top five and win the UEFA Champions League, it would be a very successful season."
