Dell: Winning the championship with Kane is of great significance and hopes to return to England

In an interview, Bayern defender Eric Dell talked about topics such as his first trophy and his decision to leave the team.

About your first trophy

—It feels so good to win the trophy, better than anyone has described. Obviously, I waited for a long time. The longer you are, the more you doubt it will actually happen. I think this is normal, especially when you've experienced a very close approach but didn't do it in the end.

I often recall my first season at Tottenham, when we reached the League Cup final in 2015 but lost the game. Life and career are always full of "ifs". If I had won the trophy so early, who knows what would have happened?

But it doesn't matter now, I've done it. It's been a wonderful year. It's really helpful to be in an environment that allows you to learn how to win and work hard on it. Finally done it, and it feels much easier. In this sense, I feel relieved, but it is obvious that this is the result of collective efforts.

Is it better to win the trophy with Kane?

-Yes, it means a lot to me to win the championship with Kane. We have been playing football together since we were 20 years old and have played together for England before. The night we officially won the championship, we were together, and that was a special moment for us.

Decision on joining Monaco

- I communicated well with the club but couldn't agree in the end, so I started looking for the best opportunity I thought was for myself. Now I'm very excited. I won't regret it, but when you've been in one place for a long time, you won't realize how vast the world outside is.

Football is very popular in many countries, and you can learn a lot by being exposed to different cultures, different types of football, different leagues - so I think it's good for me. Monaco really wants me to join, and I am very grateful. They put in all their efforts to get me there, so I'm talking about it, but I don't think it's formally confirmed.

Regarding the possibility of returning to England

- I hope that can, I think I'm playing in the best form.
