De Jong: I never thought about leaving Barcelona; the media exaggerated my salary and affected people’s perception of me

Have you ever thought about leaving? No. As I have always said, I have dreamed of playing for Barcelona since I was a kid. I am living this dream now and I want to continue for many years to come.

Do I feel that I or other teammates at Barcelona are underestimated?

I don’t feel that I am underestimated by my teammates, coaches or anyone within the club. I think this is more important for you journalists. At the end of the day, everyone has an opinion and that's the beauty of football, everyone sees it from a different angle. But within the club, from my teammates and everyone around me, I don’t feel undervalued. Instead, I feel completely grateful.
