Hupu News on October 17th After leaving Celta Vigo in early 2024, former champion coach Rafa Benítez once faded from the public eye. Now, the 65-year-old Spanish coach is about to return to the coaching bench. It is reported that he will serve as the head coach of Greek giant Panathinaikos, and the two parties have reached an agreement on a contract until the summer of 2027.

According to unanimous reports from many media in Spain and Greece, Benitez is about to officially sign a contract and plans to take over the team next week. Panathinaikos is currently coached by interim coach Christos Kontis, who will continue to lead the team in the away league game against Aris this Sunday and the Europa League group stage against Feyenoord next Thursday. Afterwards, Contis will hand over the position to Benitez, who will also become the highest paid head coach in the history of Greek football. In addition, he also won the La Liga title (Valencia), the FA Cup (Liverpool in 2006) and the Club World Cup (Inter Milan in 2011).
