Barcelona still cannot return to the Camp Nou Stadium next Sunday. According to reports from the Spanish local media "World Sports", the local municipal government in Barcelona has not issued an approval document for Barcelona to reopen the stadium for security reasons.
Laporta, Barcelona, said in a media event on Tuesday local time that it is expected that the Camp Nou Stadium will be reopened this week, as the first phase of the project covering the main stand and the south stand area is nearing its end and can accommodate 27,000 spectators to watch the game.
However, Barcelona Deputy Mayor Bonnet later confirmed on behalf of the city that since the security facilities at Camp Nou were not perfect, they still refused to allow the stadium to be re-entered this week, which means that next Sunday, Barcelona's La Liga match against Real Sociedad will continue to rent the Olympia Stadium on Mount Montjoch as expected.
Bonnette also pointed out that they are not obliged to set the deadline and date for the Camp Nou to be unlocked: "We are just as eager as Barcelona to resume operations quickly, but the city must ensure that the safety of fans is our top priority and that the technicians can work rigorously."
A city government official who asked not to be named explained that the key reason why Camp Nou failed to obtain approval was that the evacuation passage and emergency exit did not comply with regulations, such as unclear signs and problems with stair handrails, but the relevant projects will not allow Camp Nou to reopen for too long.
