Xinhua News Agency, Nanchang, May 31 (Reporter Jiao Ziqi) On the 31st, the 2025 Men's Soft Hockey Asian Oceania Federation Cup opened in Yudu County, Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province. The Chinese team defeated the Chinese Macau team 16:4 in the first round of the game, ushering in a "good start".

This competition will be held from May 31 to June 5. Teams from six countries and regions including China, South Korea, Thailand will first play a single-round group match, and then a qualifying round will be held based on the group stage results to determine the final ranking. In the first round of group matches held on the same day, Singapore lost to Thailand 4:6, and South Korea defeated Hong Kong China 22:0. The Chinese team, who played in the last game, defeated the Chinese and Macau team 16:4.

Soft Hockey is one of the events of the 12th Chengdu World Games to be held in August this year. In January this year, the first national soft hockey national team's local cooperation and co-construction project was settled in Yudu, exploring a new model for cultivating sports talents in non-Olympic events, and also marks the official settlement of the national soft hockey team in Yudu.

According to Zhu Xiao, deputy leader of the national men's soft hockey team, these players were selected at the beginning of this year, mainly from the hockey event. This competition is the first international event that the team participated in after its establishment, and it is also a rare opportunity to train troops before the World Games. "The team members have only been in contact with this project for 100 days. Now the team has a complete lineup and complete configuration, so we still have a lot of room for growth," said Zhu Xiao.

This competition is sponsored by the Asian Oceania Soft Hockey Federation and the Hand-Click Baseball and Softball Management Center of the General Administration of Sports of China, hosted by the Jiangxi Provincial Sports Bureau and the Ganzhou Municipal People's Government, and co-organized by the Ganzhou Municipal Sports Bureau and the Yudu County People's Government.
