The starter was before being traded to the Clippers. After the Suns returned, the veteran insider was still the starter of the Hornets.

According to The Charlotte Observer reporter Roderick Boone, inside veteran Mason Plumlee, who just signed back this summer, may play the role of starting center in the team at the start of the new season.

Boone said Plumley might be the team's starting center, but he could also face some level of competition. Including rookie Ryan Kalkbrenner and former two-way inside star Moussa Diabate will have the opportunity to strike at Plumley's starting position. The situation was actually quite similar before the Hornets traded Plumley to the Los Angeles Clippers. When Mark Willams was still a rookie, Plumley was also the team's starter. In the new season, Plumley will probably still take the starting position before Kalkenbrunner or Diabat is ready to become a starter.

In the NBA regular season last season, Plumley made a total of 74 appearances for the Suns, 21 of which were the starters, with averaging 17.6 minutes per game, averaging 4.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.6 blocks, and 0.8 turnovers and 2.1 fouls. His shooting percentage was 61.9%, 0% from three-point shooting percentage and 64.8% from free throws. Plumley's performance last season was obviously quite average. He showed some characteristics and talents in the first half of the season, and his performance was eye-catching. However, as the season deepens, his performance can be said to be getting worse and worse. His contribution on the offensive end is getting lower and lower. His performance on the defensive end is getting less and less ideal, and his playing time is getting less and less.

This summer, Plumley, who became a free agent, received a one-year contract from his old club, the Hornets, with a total amount of $3.6 million. He also returned to the familiar Hornets. Now Plumley has returned to his old club, but as he grows older and has experienced major injuries, his condition is indeed much worse than before, and his role on the court is much worse. With Plumley's performance last season, it sounds a bit worrying to expect him to be the team's starting lineup. It seems a bit doubtful whether he can take on the role of starting center. In contrast, Kalkenbrenner showed comprehensive personal abilities in the summer league, and Diarbat's performance last season was also quite highlighted. If the Hornets want to make a breakthrough in record next season, they should still get Plumley back on the bench as soon as possible.
