July 19th The Timberwolves paid a luxury tax of $90.4 million last season. The new Timberwolves' two team owners Marc Lore and A-Rod said in an interview that they have no problem with continuing to pay the luxury tax.

"We look at it the way we look at a startup, which loses money, but it's investment because it helps create corporate value in the long run," Marc Lore said. "And I think that's what we think. It's about investing in the team, investing in victory, and creating long-term team value. It's not for the next 3 to 5 years, but for the next 10 to 20 years, the next 50 years, or even longer. So we're ready to invest, we're ready to create a winning culture with losses. But it's a sustainable winning culture, not just a year of winning. You won't see us doing what people expect us to do, and doing some big moves after joining the team. We pay great attention to rigor when making decisions, and in every decision we make considerable considerations how to best build a long-term and sustainable winning culture."
