NBA rumors: 5 teams are interested in trading Kevin Durant
3:11am, 12 June 2025【Basketball】
As the Phoenix Suns star explores his trading options, five teams are interested in him, Kevin Durant's deal seems to be coming. The deal for Kevin Durant seems to be coming soon.
The Phoenix Suns star's name appeared on the rumor as early as the trading deadline. According to Shams Charania, Durant and his business partner Ritchie Kleiman have met with the team to explore options. Shams lists five possible ending points:
"According to sources, teams that express interest in Durant mainly include the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks. Sources say that several wild card teams have inquired about Durant in the past seven to 10 days."
Durant almost reunited with the Golden State Warriors before the transfer deadline in February, but he had no interest in trading at the time and was more eager to finish the season with the Suns, but the Suns finally missed the playoffs.
As Charania pointed out, Kevin Durant's salary in the 2025-26 season is expected to reach $54.6 million. Once he is traded, the 15-time All-Star can sign a two-year contract renewal worth $112 million by July 6. But if he keeps waiting, that number will soar to $124 million.
No matter which team ultimately signs Durant, it depends largely on his future development direction. We're talking about a future Hall of Fame member – he would never come on loan. Although Durant has been having difficulty leading the team to the top since leaving the Warriors, he is undoubtedly one of the coldest-blooded scorers in NBA history.
After so many years, he still maintains amazing data, averaging 26.6 points, 6 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game in the 24-25 season. However, the Suns performed poorly, and despite having the highest salary in the league, they ended up ranked 11th with a record of 36 wins and 46 losses.
Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal's "experiment" failed miserably, and the supporting roles around these three were far from elites. Durant is obviously interested in starting over, and if the above-mentioned teams can get this veteran, they will all achieve great improvement.
But this is not without a price.
