New York Knicks' sharpshooter Jaylen Brunson surpassed Kobe Bryant to become the fourth quarter scoring leader in the NBA playoffs.

The New York Knicks may have failed to beat the Boston Celtics in Game 5, but they made history. Jaylen Brunson surpassed the late Kobe Bryant to become the fourth quarter scoring leader in playoff history.

On Wednesday, Brunson scored 22 points and 6 assists. The playoff score reached 102 points, surpassing Kobe to 100 points.

Kobe achieved this twice in 2001 and 2003.

Celtics defeated the Knicks 127-102, extending the series competition. Game 6 will be held Friday at Madison Square Garden, New York. Brunson is the Knicks' catalyst in the playoffs. He averaged 32 points and 8 assists per game. After winning Game 4, Brunson sent a message to the Knicks: they don't have time to celebrate. Brunson scored a double-double with 39 points and 12 assists.

So he performed well in the fourth quarter. Brunson averaged 6.4 points in the fourth quarter this season.

In the second game against the Celtics, Brunson scored 9 of the 17 points in the fourth quarter. His ability to stand up at critical moments inevitably reminds Kobe.

Jaylen Brunson is comparable to Kobe

Brunson has a "Mamba spirit" similar to Kobe. His confidence and strong will enable him to stand up at critical moments.

Kobe remained calm under pressure, almost like enjoying the pressure. The same goes for Brunson.

He was awarded the NBA Key Player of the Year with a key shooting percentage of 51% this season. Brunson's focused attitude resonated with the Knicks and the entire league.

Even during days of low shooting percentage, he has an incredible ability to aspire to improve. Without Brunson, the Knicks would not have been what they are today.

In fact, they have many valuable assets. However, they wouldn't be able to compete for a seat in the Eastern Conference Finals without Brunson.
