James talks about career scores of 50,000: "The epitome of hard work and love for the game"

According to Gautam Warier, a contributor to US sports media F/W, LeBron James reviewed his experience reaching the 50,000 mark in his brilliant career.

Lakers superstar LeBron James is the first and only player in the NBA to score a score of 50,000 points (combined with regular season and playoffs). James reached this milestone as early as March 2025 against the New Orleans Pelicans, where he was asked about the moment and record on the CGTN sport scene. “It’s a microcosm of my career, my passion for my hard work and dedication and my love for the game,” James said. "I put a lot of time into trying to be the greatest person...I can be the best person. There are signs that hard work pays off at that moment. It's always cool when you can have those moments that show that work really pays off."

Back in February 2022 against the Golden State Warriors, James surpassed Jabbar in the regular season and playoffs. Jabbar ended his iconic 20-year career with 44,149 points. He scored 38387 points in the regular season and 5762 points in the playoffs. The regular season scoring record at that time was still with Jabbar, but it would not last long. James became NBA all-time scoring champion in the regular season against the Oklahoma City Thunder in February 2023. He has since become the first player to reach the 40,000-point mark.

James now scored 42184 points in the regular season and 8289 points in the playoffs. Total 50473 points, which is amazing. Incredibly, the 21-time All-Star player hasn't stopped yet. James averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.6 blocks per game for the Lakers in 2024-25, which is his 22nd season in the NBA. The longevity of this 40-year-old man is something we have never seen before and asked the secret behind it. “I don’t know, I think it’s my dedication,” James said. "The people above gave me a lot of blessings, and then I just tried to make the most of them by continuing to give, keep not cheating, keep working hard, keep working hard on my craft. I don't know, just be loyal to the game, be loyal to the process."

James won 4 championships, 4 Finals MVPs, 4 MVPs, a scoring king and an assist king in his 22 seasons. This is an incredible resume, and even he himself would not have thought that he would achieve all of this. “I can’t say I’ll sit here and say I’ll know my success in 22 years,” James said. "But I can say, I know I'll be committed to my craft, I'll be the greatest basketball player I can be. I'm not cheating on the process, I'm not cheating on the game. I can't sit here and say I'll know how many championships, MVPs, All-Stars or Olympic medals I'm going to win, all of that stuff," James continued. “All of this stuff comes with preparation and process, but I do believe that at that moment I will be as great as I can.”

James will be the first player to finish his 23rd season in the NBA in the 2025-26 season. You'll expect him to be a force on the court again as he's chasing his fifth NBA title and his greatness continues.
