Durant: Cold-blooded scoring machine on the court!
6:49pm, 3 August 2025【Basketball】
On September 29, 1988, Kevin Durant was born in Washington, DC, USA. His father left his family since childhood. Adu and his brother grew up under the raising of his mother Wanda Durant. Adu, who had been young, watched sports events with his brother, especially Vince Carter, who was still in the Toronto Raptors at the time, was his favorite idol player.
By chance, Adu and his brother signed up for the course at the Yule Youth Entertainment Center. It was here that he met his noble man: Coach Charles Craig. Because he was different from ordinary people, Adu performed well in the AAU field when he was a child. When he was only 10 years old, he had already followed the team to participate in competitions everywhere.
After playing excellent performance on the court, Adu told his mother when he was 10 years old that he wanted to become a professional basketball player in the future. The mother who recognizes her child’s dream does not just praise her verbally like other parents, but strictly supervises his growth and progress. In order to allow him to receive better training, the mother saves money and helps him gain more professional training opportunities.
By high school, Adu's height had exceeded 200 cm. Under the background of the play style at that time, such height would generally be arranged by the coach to play as a center, but the head coach unexpectedly discovered that although Adu had center height, he had excellent skills and accurate shooting. Although he was invited to participate in the McDonald's All-Star Game, he won the MVP in one fell swoop, and joined the University of Texas at Austin as a five-star high school student.
But at that time, his former basketball coach Craig died unexpectedly in a shooting. In honor of the coach who had a profound impact on him, Adu chose to change the back of the jersey to No. 35 and continue to work hard with the head coach's expectations.
After entering the NCAA, Adu did not show the youth of a newcomer. He scored excellent data of 25.8 points and 11.1 rebounds in his freshman season and was selected as the best player with unanimous votes. After the freshman season, Adu announced his participation in the 2007 NBA Draft.
On the 2007 draft night, Adu was selected by the Seattle Supersonics as the second pick in the second place. Adu showed his offensive talent in the rookie season. He averaged 20.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in the rookie season, successfully winning the Best Rookie Award.
In the second season, the Supersonics moved to Oklahoma and renamed it to the Thunder. In that draft, the team selected Westbrook, a player of the future Thunder team's soul level. In the second season, Adu continued to improve, and his scoring data increased to an average of 25 points per game. In the following seasons, he was selected as the All-Star, becoming the youngest scoring champion in NBA history.
By the 2012 season, the third young master of the Thunder continued to perform stably, and Adu won the honor of scoring champion for the third consecutive year. When the Thunder reached the Finals for the first time under the leadership of the Third Young Master, they faced the three strongest giants in the NBA that year. In the end, the Thunder lost to the experienced Heat and unfortunately lost.
Just as fans were full of expectations for the future of the third young master of the Thunder, Harden was sent to the Rockets. Although the Thunder, who lacked Harden, could still achieve good results in the regular season the next year, Westbrook's injury directly caused Adu to be unable to defeat four-handed hands in the playoffs, and the team was unfortunately eliminated.
In the 2014 season, Adu scored a terrifying average of 32 points, winning the Most Valuable Player of the Year. At the awards ceremony that year, Adu said that most touching speech in NBA history. When he said the words "You are the real MVP" to his mother, there was a lot of applause.
The mother and son were crying indifferently on stage, and behind this, perhaps only they themselves could understand how much effort and hardships were hidden.
But unfortunately, Adu, who won the MVP, still couldn't bring the Thunder into the Finals in the next two seasons, and was also led by the Warriors 3-1 in the playoffs and finally stopped in the Western Conference Finals. In this offseason, Adu and the Thunder's contract just expired. After thinking, he finally chose to bring his talent to the Golden State Warriors. At the moment the
news was officially announced, doubts about Adu began to appear. Although the Warriors missed the championship last season, they just won the best 73 wins in history and even defeated the Thunder to advance to the finals. They are the top champion team in the league. And Adu was also labeled as a traitor who "join if you can't win" because of this move.
Thanks to Adu's joining, the Warriors became the strongest team in the league. Later, they won the NBA championship for two consecutive years, and Adu also successfully won two FMVPs. They even had the chance to challenge three consecutive championships in the 18-19 season, but when facing the Raptors in the final, Adu suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in a breakthrough, which eventually shattered the Warriors' dream of winning three consecutive championships.
After missing the three consecutive championships, Adu announced that he would join forces with Irving to join the Nets, and Harden also traded to the Nets, and the three formed the three Nets with extremely threatening offensive end.
Although they are known as the Big Three, they have very little time to play together. Due to the epidemic and injuries, the Big Three played only 16 games together. The first season of the Big Three swept the Celtics in the first round. When facing the Bucks in the second round, they immediately suffered from injury after suppressing their opponents in the first two games, resulting in suspense in this round of the series that seemed to be able to be easily won.
Although Adu played in the subsequent games, he was defeated in the tiebreak and was unfortunately eliminated. After a failure this season, Harden ran away next season for Simmons, but he rarely played due to a back injury. In the end, the Nets were swept out by the Celtics in the first round. The following season, Adu traveled to the Suns, Irving joined the Mavericks, and the Nets' Big Three completely disbanded.
In the following seasons, the Suns' performance in the playoffs was not very optimistic. Due to the pressure of Bill's 50 million salary, they have not been able to make strong reinforcements. The team even missed the playoffs last season.
Adu, whose career has also come to the last moment, naturally wants to make changes in the face of such a dilemma and asks for a trade request to the team again; and once the news of Adu's trading became the new popularity at that time; in the end, the Suns chose to send him to the Rockets, so that he could make the opportunity to strive for the third championship at the last moment of his career.
From a child who grew up in a single-parent family in Washington, DC to now becoming one of the best scorers in NBA history, Durant's basketball life is full of ups and downs, and has experienced family breaks, coach death, media criticism and fan doubts, and has also won many honors such as MVP and championship.
He has been scolded by many fans and is also known as the strongest scorer for his super attack. Now he is about to be 37 years old, and this move directly makes the Rockets become a favorite to win the championship in the new season. As for whether this time, we can win the championship for Adu again, we are looking forward to our performance after the start of the season.
