Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups recently accepted an interview with reporters. In the interview, he also talked about the situation of Toumani Camara and Shaedon Sharpe, who had just completed early contract extensions with the Trail Blazers. It seems that Billups is very happy that the two young players can lock their future in the team.

Billups said: At the beginning of the team's training, all of us were applauding and congratulating Sharp and Kamara. I am really happy that they can stay here, and I am very happy that they can get the big contract they deserve. Sharp is not usually a very emotional person, but you can intuitively feel that he is very excited about getting a new contract. In contrast, Kamara is a very outgoing person. His smile can almost come out of his mobile phone. After confirming that he signed with the team, he was jumping up and down in the apartment building with joy. I couldn't be more proud of both of them.

Billups was then asked about his decision to sign a long-term contract with a low salary when he had the opportunity to sign a high-paying short-term contract in his previous career. Billups continued: That's absolutely true, and that's what I believe. Because you can't gamble with your career. I always think about my parents, my children, and their futures are closely related to my contract. My parents invested a lot of time and effort in my upbringing to make our life possible, all of it. So there's no way I would bet on this. I believe in the principle of peace of mind. A big contract will put your family and your life on the right track, and it will also make you feel more at ease.

Kamara was born in May 2000. He is 25 years old, 201cm tall and weighs 104kg. He is a forward player from the University of Dayton selected by the Phoenix Suns with the 52nd overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft. In the NBA regular season last season, Kamara played a total of 78 times in 82 games, averaging 32.7 minutes per game. He averaged 11.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game. He also had 1.4 turnovers and 2.9 fouls. He shot 45.8% from the field, 37.5% from the three-point range, and 72.2% from the free throw line. What Kamara received from the Trail Blazers was a four-year contract with a total value of $82 million.

Sharp was born in May 2003. He is now 22 years old, 196cm tall and 94kg in weight. He is a high lottery pick selected by the Trail Blazers with the 7th overall pick in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft.
